A Little Clay, a Lot of Creativity, and Just a Touch of Chaos!
Hello again, friends! 💕
I thought it was time to step out from behind the craft table and introduce myself!
I’m Robin, the maker, creator, packager, photographer, and occasionally the entire quality control department behind The Sassy Clay Co., a small handmade business right here in Oklahoma.
And let me tell you, running a handmade business is never boring!
How It All Started
I’ve always loved creating things with my hands. There’s just something special about taking a few simple supplies and turning them into something that makes someone smile.
My creative journey started with polymer clay earrings. I loved experimenting with colors, shapes, and designs. From delicate flowers to whimsical Halloween creations, there was always another idea waiting to be made.
Of course, anyone who crafts knows how this goes.
You start with one little project, and before you know it, you have enough supplies to open your own craft store!
Sound familiar? 😂
Then Came the Plaster!
Somewhere along the way, I discovered the wonderful world of DIY plaster paint kits.
And, well… let’s just say things escalated quickly!
Suddenly, my workspace was filled with molds, plaster, drying racks, tiny paint containers, brushes, and adorable little figures waiting to be packaged.
What started as another creative idea turned into an entirely new part of my business.
I even jokingly refer to my workspace as The Sassy Plaster Factory!
Between pouring, sanding, packaging, and preparing for craft shows, there’s always something happening around here.
And just when I think I’ve finished everything, another idea pops into my head!
Handmade Isn’t Always Perfect
Here’s a little secret about handmade businesses.
Not everything turns out exactly as planned!
Sometimes a plaster figure doesn’t come out of its mold quite right. Sometimes an earring design looks much better in my imagination than it does in real life.
And sometimes I spend more time rearranging my craft show display than actually making products!
But that’s part of the adventure.
Every mistake teaches me something, every new design brings a little excitement, and every finished product reminds me why I love doing this.
The Little Things Mean the Most
One of my favorite parts of having a handmade business is seeing someone smile when they discover something I’ve created.
Whether it’s a pair of earrings that makes someone laugh or a DIY paint kit that sparks a child’s imagination, those little moments mean everything.
I love the idea that something made at my craft table can become part of someone else’s happy memory.
That’s what keeps me creating.
What’s Next for The Sassy Clay Co.?
Oh, I have plans!
I’m currently working on new designs, expanding my DIY paint kit collection, and introducing something especially adorable: Adopt-a-Pet Paint Kits!
Imagine painting your own little pet, giving it a name, filling out an adoption certificate, and taking your new friend home.
How cute is that?!
I’m also working behind the scenes to get our online shop ready. Until then, I’ll be sharing sneak peeks, craft show adventures, new creations, and plenty of behind-the-scenes moments right here on the blog.
Thanks for Being Here!
Building a small handmade business takes creativity, patience, determination, and occasionally a really good sense of humor.
I’m learning as I go, making a few mistakes along the way, and enjoying the adventure.
Thank you for stopping by, reading my story, and supporting this little Oklahoma handmade business.
I hope you’ll stick around because something tells me this creative adventure is just getting started!
Until next time, stay creative and a little sassy! 💕
